The history of tehri dates back to the era of nawabs in India. It's said that, at the time of the Second World War, the prices of meat were soaring high, the cooks in Nawab's kitchen replaced meat in biryani with potatoes, hence giving birth to tehri. Over time, Tehri started gaining popularity in the region and became a staple in many households.
